Dear Friends:

Filled with anxiety and terror from the night before, Shaniele cautiously reached for the phone in the silence of the new day. She dialed the number of her church wondering if anyone would believe her. As the pastor answered the phone, she began crying frantically relating the abusive events of the previous night. Remembering how her young son had cowered in a corner crying out, “Daddy, please stop!”, she felt compelled to tell the secret that had drawn her into seclusion. Her eyes now recognized the powerful influence the abuse had on her children.

Many women with similar stories have contacted FOCUS Ministries. In 2009, we ministered to over 700 women and families. Recognizing the effects of domestic violence on their children, they guardedly reached out for help. The fears of what will happen next had kept them paralyzed and uncertain as to which way to go. They questioned themselves and their faith in God. Often times they experienced inappropriate responses from the leadership of their church which further traumatized them.

Our commitment is to:

• Continue to provide a safe place for hope and healing in Jesus.

• Assist in meeting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the oppressed.

• Institute our TEEN FOCUS curriculum to stop the cycle of abuse.

• Provide domestic violence education to churches and organizations.

• Educate through webinar presentations to reach all across the world.

We want to invite you to invest in the lives of those who are hurting, brokenhearted, and hopeless by partnering with us to provide a safe place so no child cowers in a corner.
