TEEN FOCUS – A Roadmap to Radically Healthy Relationships!

TEEN FOCUS

Birthed out of a love for teens and a desire to equip them with the tools necessary for developing healthy relationships, TEEN FOCUS is a power-packed curriculum for both guys and girls. Whether you are a school counselor, youth pastor, educator, or volunteer who works with young people, this tool is a “don’t miss” resource in helping prevent today’s youth from experiencing destructive relationships that will destroy their spirit.

TEEN FOCUS takes a multi-faceted approach to help steer students down the road to healthy relationships:

  1. Self-Concept: The beginning of the process to understanding relationships, teens will examine themselves through their eyes, others’ eyes, and God’s eyes. Knowing who they are in the Lord gives them the capacity to make better decisions.
  2. Defining Healthy Relationships: Presented with sensitivity to the diversity of family backgrounds and varying levels of health within them, teens will become familiar with the characteristics of true, healthy relationships and then analyze their own relationships in light of this.
  3. Identification of Abusive Relationships & Setting Boundaries: Likening the road leading toward healthy relationships to that of the freedom of driving and the responsibility of choosing wise driving companions, TEEN FOCUS will encourage young people to consider “Who’s Behind the Wheel?” of their relationships. Students will learn to learn to set boundaries and take steps to stop abusive behaviors, not only in boyfriend/girlfriend relationships, but also between friends of the same gender.

Logistics:

  • TEEN FOCUS has a total of 33 sessions (more than one session can be accomplished in one meeting, depending on the group’s time frame)
  • Sessions and activities can be presented to the whole group and then discussed as the group or after breaking off into small groups
  • Facilitator uses his/her discretion to break off into gender groupings
  • All necessary hand-outs are included in the manual, and permission is granted to photocopy pages of the manual as long as FOCUS Ministries, Inc. copyright is noted

Don’t wait another day to get this valuable resource on relationships into your hands. The information you share may mean the difference between life and death for one of the young people who look to you for direction!

Everything I Know About Love

In a time where the B-word is not simply allowed but frequently utilized on prime-time television, our young women are also inundated with portrayals of violent and overly dramatic relationships. The television shows, movies and music videos today readily introduce the concept that disrespect and derogatory language is not only the “norm”, but that it is acceptable. As a result, young women are becoming insensitive to the detrimental nature of these types of relationships and begin to emulate and tolerate these types of behaviors in their own lives. Young women need to see themselves for who they truly are in God’s eyes and understand why they are worthy of respect.

Audience: Teen, Tween, and Young Adult Women
In this workshop attendees will learn:

  1. Recognize the lies we have been taught about love.
  2. Jealousy and control ? “he loves me”.
  3. The dangers of idolatrous dating.

But Your Temper’s Just as Bad as Mine is

This workshop is aimed at today’s young men that are flooded with images of violence. In today’s culture, aggression is often rewarded and respected while humiliating others is tolerated. Young men in sports are further encouraged to “win at all costs”, teaching them that compassion and empathy are a weakness. With great power comes great responsibility, and this responsibility begins with truly understanding God’s design. From there, they can learn how to accept responsibility and hold each other accountable for their actions.

Audience: Teen, Tween, and Young Adult Men
In this workshop attendees will learn:

  1. What constitutes abuse?
  2. Violence ? Strength
  3. The importance of giving and receiving respect.
  4. What can I do about it?
