Jesus Goes After The Lost One
If one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, doesn’t he leave the other ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it? When he does find it, he joyfully hoists it onto his shoulders; and when he gets home, he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Come, celebrate with me, because I have found my lost sheep!’ (Luke 15:4-6)
Are you the lost lamb?
Sometimes in an unhealthy, destructive or abusive relationship, a woman gets so wounded and broken from the verbal stones thrown at her constantly and the ugliness of sin all around her that she will wander away, just like the lamb. She didn’t mean to leave the Good Shepherd who cares about her, but she just got distracted and then she got exhausted and then she got lost.
Sometimes a woman who has been cheated on and lied to and threatened and intimidated will say “enough is enough” and walk away from the Lord who loves her so much that He died to save her soul.
Sometimes we just lose hope and give up on life and love.
But Jesus is our Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine and goes after the one who is distressed and troubled and hurting. He will pick her up in His arms, hold her close to His heart and then carry her back home.
He will never leave a lost lamb behind, but will risk His very life, even give His life, to save her and bring her back to the safety of His Father’s House. If you are the Lost Sheep today, hang on! The Good Shepherd is coming to bring you back home and there will be a wonderful celebration that the Lost One is found.
