I Wonder . . .

What an effective picture of the view of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on Inauguration Day. Glowing lights lined the mall representing lives lost due to COVID-19. It was an impressive memorial to loved ones that were no longer with us. Only a vaccine could eradicate this killer. Millions of dollars have been spent on an experimental vaccine and its distribution.

I began to wonder what that mall would have looked like if there would have been a light for each life lost because of abortions performed in 2020.Those precious lives were snuffed out because of a human decision not a virus. These little one had no choice or voice.

I also wondered what the mall would have looked like if each light represented those shot or killed by violence (riots, shootings, car jackings, road rage, domestic violence, and abusive relationships, etc.) in 2020. Someone chose to kill leaving their victims with no voice or choice.

Both abortions and violence are not cured with a vaccine. Instead, we need a heart change and a renewing of our minds. God offers us grace and love through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. All we have to do is to make the choice to believe, repent, accept God’s free gift, love God first, and love our neighbor as ourselves.

The stench of devaluing human life is growing.  We can do something about it now by turning our focus to Jesus not the government to make a difference in the situations we face today.

Where is your focus?
