Does it Seem Like the World is Going Crazy?

These are certainly perilous times, just as the Bible told us they would be. (2nd Timothy 3:1)  And those of us who have experienced domestic abuse and violence in our homes and lives understand and believe that very much.  It does seem like the world has gone “off the rails”.  As lawlessness abounds all around us, the love of many has indeed grown cold. (Matthew 24:12)

But God is still seated on His throne and He is still sovereign over it all.  The Lord has a plan.  Let’s talk about that plan now.

Your loving heavenly Father knows you, He sees you and smiles when He thinks about you, which is a LOT.  He is full of grace and mercy to you.  He is strong and powerful to save you from whatever is going on around you.  Jesus came to earth 2,000 years ago to save us on the Cross, and He is still available for rescue missions today.  Do you know Him?

When Eve and Adam sinned, it was like their genetics changed and now all future generations would also inherit the “sin gene”.  We are all born with a sin nature that separates us from God, just as sin separated Adam and Eve from God and they had to leave their beautiful Garden.  The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  That is definitely the bad news…the Trouble that we all have to deal with.

And here is the Good News!  “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners…” (1st Timothy 1:15)  That is VERY Good News!  That means that although each person on this planet has sinned against a Holy Almighty God, by faith each person can be forgiven.  When anyone confesses or admits their sins, repents of them, and trusts that the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross paid the infinitely high price for those sins, then that woman, man or child is free from the penalty and even the power of sin over their lives.  

Believe and know that God loves you so much that He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the full price of your sins through His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. You’ve seen this verse in many places:  “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

The Bible says that “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

• Do you ever wonder what God thinks about you?  
• If the Bible says that His thoughts about you outnumber the grains of sand on the seashore, what could He be thinking?  
• Is He thinking happy thoughts or angry thoughts? 
• Is He pleased with you or disappointed with you?  
• How can you know for sure what God is thinking?

Thankfully, God gave you His Word in the Bible which is like a love letter from Him.  The Bible is true and alive and just as relevant today as it has always been throughout history and time.  What God told the prophets and apostles to write so many thousands of years ago, is all still true and applies to our world today.  

Here is what the Lord is thinking about today…

First of all, He rejoices over you with singing!  “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”  (Zephaniah 3:17)

Our heavenly Father is thinking about how glad He is that you are His child.  “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!”  (1st John 3:1)

God the King of the universe is the ultimate owner of all there is on this earth and all of space and time.  Yet, He considers YOU to be His special treasure!  “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people…” (Exodus 19:5)

You are so valuable to the Lord.  Jesus taught the disciples in His Sermon on the Mount to “look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26)  You are more valuable than a flock of sparrows, a field of lilies and all the puppies in the world!

God was thinking about you even before you were born!  Before your life began, He was making plans and writing them all down in His book…before you took your first breath.  “Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.  And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.”  (Psalm 139:15)

And speaking of God’s plans for you…”For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Even if it feels like everything is spinning out of control today, look up and know that Jesus has a plan and is working all things together for your good and for His glory.  ALL THINGS.
